The Hunting Tower
Imagine waking up in a room that was once used by ladies and noblemen in the 1500s, your morning view stretching across the lush expanse of the Chatsworth estate. Perched high above Chatsworth House in Stand Wood, this 16th-century tower was built for Bess of Hardwick, who used the incredible vantage point to watch the hounds working when hunting in the park below. Today, you can stay overnight inside the tower thanks to the extensive refurbishment and restoration of the building. Inside, a spiral stone staircase takes you up and down the four floors to the two bedrooms, two bathrooms, living room and kitchen. It’s certainly a unique stay like no other!

Swiss Cottage
Tucked away in a secluded corner of Chatsworth, the Swiss Cottage offers an escape straight from a fairytale. Built between 1829 and 1842 by architect Joseph Paxton, this beautiful cottage has been designed to evoke the idyllic charm of the Swiss Alps. The distinctive alpine architecture and quaint, timber-framed exterior once were originally crafted to be admired during carriage rides through the Estate. Today it serves as a unique retreat in the heart of the Peak District. Even the drive to the cottage tells a story. As you pass through ancient woodlands, you might encounter the ruins of a historical aqueduct, as well as enchanting waterfalls and stone steps crafted by Paxton himself.
