The Devonshire Arms Bids Farewell to Paul Leonard
The Devonshire Arms Hotel & Spa, Bolton Abbey, has announced that Head Chef of Burlington Restaurant Paul Leonard will leave mid-November to join The Forest Side, Grasmere, as Head Chef.
Paul’s tenure, which started July 2017, has marked a pivotal time for the Burlington restaurant, during which the Chefs migrated to a four-day week, resulting in a more rewarding work-life balance for the kitchen team, and during which Burlington also re-gained its 4AA rosette status. Other accolades include a healthy ranking of 6/10 in The Good Food Guide, and entering the Top 100 National Restaurant Awards at number 46.
Richard Palmer, Managing Director of the Devonshire Hotels and Restaurants Group commented,
“Paul has been a great asset to our team - along with the many accolades he has secured in a relatively short time, he has perhaps even more significantly built and inspired a loyal, motivated team around him, comprising of 14 Chefs and 3 kitchen porters. From this position of strength, we will continue to develop strong links with local suppliers and the extended community, and further develop our sustainable ethos. We are looking forward to the recruitment process to find another talent to drive the business forward.
Meanwhile we thank Paul for his outstanding contribution to Burlington’s recent success and to the wider hotel management team, and we wish him the very best in his role at The Forest Side, where we have every confidence he will continue to build upon his exemplary career to date.”
DEVour, a six-day long gourmet event at to be held at Burlington during the second week in November, will be Paul’s swan song, where he will collaborate with fellow Chefs, who hold six Michelin stars between them.
The Devonshire Arms ate now in the process of recruiting a new Head Chef, an exciting opportunity for anyone wishing to showcase their talent and lead a strong kitchen team.
