What is your role at The Devonshire Arms Hotel & Spa?

Hi my name is Katie and I am the Reception Manager at The Devonshire Arms Hotel & Spa. It's my job to look after the Front of House Team, including Reception, Concierge, Porters, Night Porters and Guest Relations. As a team, we are the face of the business and we love nothing more than greeting our guests with a smile!

What is your background?

I have a strong hospitality background, working in a variety of businesses, from busy fresh food country pubs, to 4* Country House Hotels. My career began in events, but I quickly worked my way up the ladder to becoming the Deputy General Manager of a 70 bedroom hotel. Following a change of path to hospitality recruitment, I have found my way back to being an hotelier - I definitely feel more at home!

What are your roles and responsibilities?

Here at the Devonshire Arms in Bolton Abbey, it's my responsibility to ensure the happiness of the guests, but also my team. Happy team, happy guests! Behind the scenes, my role is to ensure that we have systems in place to make sure that every minute detail is picked up, in order for our guests to have a seamless and thoroughly enjoyable stay. We enjoy going the extra mile and doing something special, visiting us should be a real treat and a trip to remember.

What do you enjoy most about being a part of the team?

I love working at The Devonshire Arms, we're fun yet professional, and after only four weeks within the business I already feel like part of the family. I'm looking forward to learning more about the hotel, the building was built in the 17th century and I feel that there are so many stories just waiting to be shared! Most of all though, I'm excited to meet our many loyal customers. The team have spoken so fondly about our regular guests that I'm sure it will be a joy to get to know everybody.

Fun fact about yourself or any hobbies?

As for hobbies, does eating out count?! I'm a real foodie, working in the industry gives you a real appreciation for good food and drink. What better way to spend your days off than a long hike followed by a meal out? I love walking as well - last year I completed The Yorkshire Three Peaks, but most recently Helvellyn including striding edge (if you're scared of heights I don't advise it)! Next stop, Scafell Pike!
