Planning the perfect Christmas party can be daunting, so we've asked event manager Hannah to share her many years of experience to give you an insight into planning this year's festive get-together.

With over 6 years in the industry, planning over 600 weddings and events, Hannah is an expert in her field when it comes to planning special occasions - there's not a lot she hasn't coordinated whilst working at Devonshire Hotels and Restaurants, so who better to answer your burning questions?
Q: DO YOU HAVE ANY 'TOP TIPS' FOR PLANNING AN EVENT?
A: There are so many aspects which come into planning an event, no matter how large or small the get-together is. It's important to stay calm, collected and enjoy the event! There are many guides and checklists online, but my top tip is to consider attention to detail – always do a run through of the event with your venue to ensure everything is in order and you can then relax on the night.
Q: WHAT FACTORS SHOULD YOU CONSIDER WHEN CHOOSING A VENUE?
A: Whilst the size and nature of your party can influence your venue, you need to take into account the details such as parking, technical needs and budget. Checking previous feedback will also help make your decision.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE CANAPÉ?
A: Canapés are the perfect way to let guests spend time together on arrival. There are so many wonderful canapés to choose from at all our venues (... and I've tasted a few), but my personal favourite is the Pork & Black Pudding Sausage Roll from The Devonshire Fell.
Q. WHAT ARE YOUR TIPS ON MAKING AN EVENT MEMORABLE?
A. Getting creative with your entertainment is a great way make your event a little bit different. Some of the best options are also the least expensive, for example a photo booth or ‘selfie’ mirror are great ways to lift the mood and entertain guests. We also have a list of recommended suppliers, from acoustic musicians to classic DJs who are sure to get the party started!
Q. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FESTIVE COCKTAIL?
A. We offer a Spiced Berry Bellini for festive dining, it smells like Christmas and is delicious!
Q. WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PART OF YOUR JOB?
A. Watching events go smoothly and seeing our guests enjoying themselves is a highlight for sure. Knowing that our hard teamwork behind the scenes has paid off and receiving feedback from our clients is very rewarding.
