As the sunsets on the Priory Ruins and riverside, experience the night sky come to life.

Under the guidance of David Watkins, the Chair of North Yorkshire Bat Group and with the aid of bat detectors, the silence of the night will be filled by echolocation. Bats use echolocation, a high pitch sound and its echo, for navigation and hunting. The sound is ordinarily too high for humans to hear, but thanks to the bat detector not only will you be able to see the bats dart here and there, you will be able to hear them. Will you hear the delightful “raspberry” sound commonly referred to as the feeding buzz?

Running on the 6th August.
