Chatsworth House and Garden

The House
The house is renowned for the quality of its art, landscape and hospitality, and it has evolved through the centuries to reflect the tastes, passions and interests of succeeding generations. Today Chatsworth contains works of art that span 4000 years, from ancient Roman and Egyptian sculpture, and masterpieces by Rembrandt, Reynolds and Veronese, to work by outstanding modern artists, including Lucian Freud, Edmund de Waal and David Nash.

There are over 30 rooms to explore, from the magnificent Painted Hall, regal State Rooms, restored Sketch Galleries and beautiful Sculpture Gallery.

The Gardens
Having evolved over more than 450 years, the 105 acre Chatsworth garden continues to change today. There is plenty to discover at every turn, including permanent sculptures to be found. The garden is famous for its rich history, historic and modern waterworks and sculptures, the Victorian rock garden and the maze.

Farmyard
The working farmyard and adventure playground provides a fun and educational day out for children of all ages – with animal handling, milking demonstrations and daily activities, plus a woodland adventure playground with slides, trampolines and more. So if your young farmers like to meet animals, make new friends, try new things, and learn and play all day, they’re going to love our farmyard.

Park
The 1000 acre park on the banks of the river Derwent was chiefly designed by Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown in the 1760s. Today the park contains historic and modern architecture and art including James Paine’s bridges and mill, Queen Mary’s Bower and horse jumps from the Chatsworth International Horse Trials. Stand Wood provides an impressive backdrop for the house, and contains an interesting diversity of trees and wildlife.

Tickets for Chatsworth must be pre-booked and purchased in advance.
