The Devonshire at home – Sticky Soy BBQ Ribs
Celebrate National BBQ Week with these delicious sticky pork ribs, perfect for a weekend BBQ with your family.
You will need:
1kg pork ribs
10g Chinese five spice
10g ginger
1 cinnamon stick
1 tsp oil
1 tsp corriander seeds
1 stick fresh lemongrass smashed
Peel of 1 orange
3 kaffir lime leaves or juice and zest of 1 lime
150g dark brown sugar
200ml reduced salt soy sauce
3ltr water
Method
Marinade pork ribs overnight with Chinese five spice and ginger.
Place oil in to a large pot with spices and heat until spices are cracking a little.
Add sugar and stir until it is dissolving and making a paste.
Add soy then pork ribs.
Cover well with water.
Simmer on the stove for 2hrs.
Check ribs are tender and ready to fall off the bone.
Remove and set aside.
Reduce liquid to ¼ amount.
Pour over ribs and set aside for use on a BBQ later or place in the oven at 180 degrees Celcius to lightly caramelise for 10 minutes and serve on a fresh salad.
