Meet the delightful Oliver Edwards, our new head chef joining the kitchen team at The Devonshire Fell at Burnsall. Bringing with him a wealth of experience from previous work at Salvos Italian restaurant in Headingley, we are super excited to have him on our team, cooking up delicious dishes and providing our guests with a truly indulgent experience. Get to know a little bit about him...
Tell us about your background, why did you decide to become a chef?
My mum and dad are both chefs, so I grew up with it. I had a few choices in my mind for what i wanted to do, sport or being a chef myself, and I felt I would be a better chef!
What are your plans for the food offering at The Devonshire Fell?
To expand it, take it to the next level while providing our guests with something unique and delicious.
What are your favourite Yorkshire ingredients?
The Yorkshire Dales produces some of the best cheese around, and nothing beats a Yorkshire pudding.
Which celebrity (or celebrities) would you like to have a meal with, and why?
Marcelo Bielsa and Liam Gallagher. Bielsa because he is my football hero, and Liam Gallagher because he will have some of the best stories to tell and is the coolest man on the planet.
What do you enjoy most about being a chef?
The comradery of a kitchen and making people happy with food!
What is your food philosophy or personal motto?
It is more of a favourite quote but its, ''A man with new ideas is a madman until his ideas triumph''.
Do you have any hobbies?
Watching Leeds United play.
What is your favourite thing to eat or cook, and why?
I love to cook and eat Mexican food as it's not something I get to do day in, day out.
What would people be most surprised to learn about you?
Terrible TV shows are a guilty pleasure of mine...
