“Searching for a venue for the event, we happened upon The Devonshire Fell, already well known as a wedding venue. Inquiries and discussions began in May for an event in September. The staff were a little bemused by the fact that 40 family members and friends would come together for the first time in 10 years, from the four corners of the globe.”

“There was much discussion about bedrooms and extra beds, all of which was dealt with successfully. A definite dinner menu of three choices per course, pre-ordered for the day, suited everybody from 80 to eight years old! We also had the pleasure of meeting the chef and he made a wonderful meal.

“Whatever we proposed in the way of decoration, bar tab, wine, Champagne, timing, on the day, was perfect and we thank everyone concerned. The sun shone that weekend, so we could use the garden and patio for photographs, with the wonderful views of the Fells and river as background. Breakfast the next morning was a truly convivial family affair before we all went our separate ways.”
