Russian Cottage is situated in a secluded location near Calton Lees, overlooking acres of idyllic farmland. Approached along a private road through bluebell woods, the property offers the perfect getaway, but is only a 25-minute walk through the Park to Chatsworth.
Unfortunately the access road is not suitable for low profile vehicles.

The Cottage was built following a gift of a model of a Russian Farm to the 6th Duke of Devonshire in 1855 from the brother of Tsar Nicholas of Russia. The Tsar and the 6th Duke had become friends following the Duke’s visit to Russia in 1826 when he served as the British Ambassador to the Coronation.
An exchange visit in 1844 was planned but unfortunately, the Tsar had to cancel his visit. Instead, the Duke was sent an intricate model of a Russian farmhouse as a reminder and keepsake, from which became the inspiration to build Russian Cottage.

Visiting Chatsworth? We can provide multi-entry tickets to the house, gardens, farmyard and playground for you to use throughout your stay. These can be added to your booking by our team, who you can contact on 01756 718 111 or res@devonshirehotels.co.uk.
These tickets give you unlimited access to Chatsworth House and Garden, with free car parking for the duration of your stay. Holders of these multi-entrance tickets are also not required to book a time slot, so you have complete flexibility.
With these tickets, there’s no need to rush to view all of the wonders of Chatsworth, as you can return the following day on the same ticket to see what you missed or revisit your favourite part.
Please note that tickets must be collected from your cottage before visiting Chatsworth.
Multi-entrance tickets are not valid for admission to events such as the International Horse Trials and Country Fair. Please note the farmyard and playground are closed during the Country Fair.
*Chatsworth tickets over the Christmas period (between 9th November and 5th January) are single entry only and prices will differ from normal multi-entry tickets. Multi-entrance tickets are not provided when Chatsworth is closed January – March.
