You can enjoy a long walk up to the Valley of Desolation waterfall and Simon’s Seat, where panoramic views stretch for miles over the rolling landscape. Wesleyan Cottage
If you’re looking for a characterful Yorkshire Dales holiday cottage, then the Wesleyan Cottage is sure to impress. Built inside a converted Chapel dating back to 1844, this unique cottage features an ‘upside down’ design, spacious, open-plan kitchen and living areas on the upper floor as you enter, and the bedrooms downstairs. Whether you’re hosting a lively dinner at the large dining table, or gathering around the wood-burning stove for a family board game, the space offers both warmth and style.
On the lower level, you’ll find four stylish bedrooms, each decorated with traditional patterns and heritage colours. Step outside to a secluded patio with panoramic views of the Wharfe Valley, complete with furniture, a BBQ and a hot tub for ultimate relaxation.
For those craving outdoor adventures, Wesleyan Cottage offers direct access to numerous trails. Take a stroll along the River Wharfe to the quaint hamlet of Appletreewick. Then, continue to the village of Burnsall where you can enjoy lunch or a refreshing drink at The Devonshire Fell.

Stank House Farm
Located just beyond Bolton Abbey Village, up at the crest of the steep farm track, Stank House Farm offers a peaceful countryside retreat with views of the valley below. The large farmhouse was initially built in 1744 and has since been renovated into a cottage.
A traditional stone-flagged floor and padded wooden bench will greet you when you first arrive. Perfect for removing muddy boots after a day of exploring the estate! The separate dining room, with its large table, beamed ceilings, and log-burning stove, creates the perfect setting for intimate, cosy evenings during autumn and winter. The inviting living area features plush sofas, armchairs, another log-burning stove, and a flat-screen TV, making it ideal for family movie nights. French doors open onto a spacious outdoor terrace, where you can unwind in the hot tub while soaking in the stunning views across the Bolton Abbey Estate.
Upstairs, you'll find two generously sized double bedrooms and a twin, each boasting its en-suite bathroom. Don't miss the master bedroom's four-poster bed—a true highlight of this countryside haven.
