What are the check in and check out times?

You can check into your room from 4pm, and check out is at 11am. Where possible, we will endeavour to fulfil special requests made at the time of booking, however no guarantees can be made.

What time is breakfast?

Breakfast is served between 7.30am and 11.00am; a continental breakfast to your room can be arranged beforehand, please make reception aware the night prior if this is required. Please note that you must reserve your table for breakfast in advance, to ensure social distancing can be adhered to.

What are the Spa opening hours?

From the 12th June, the Devonshire spa will open from 7.00am.

 

Hotel Resident Spa Access

45-minute swim sessions are available to book in the morning and evenings on a first come first served basis, therefore please let us know as soon as possible if you wish to swim while you are with us. Alternatively, spa day experiences can be pre-booked for during the day, to include longer spa access and treatments. Gym access can be booked separately and is available throughout the day, please let us know if you wish to book a time slot. Slots can be booked as full spa access or swimming pool only, and are subject to availability.

How long does it take to walk to Bolton Abbey?

It takes approximately 20 minutes to walk to the priory ruins, along the River Wharfe. A map can be found at reception including various walks from the hotel.

Do you accommodate children?

Children are welcome to stay in our Luxury, Superior and Suite room categories for a charge of £35 per night for ages 5-14, including either a cot or folded bed which must be requested at the time of booking. Breakfast is included in this rate and all additional meals are chargeable. Infants under the age of 5 are free of charge and anyone above 15 is charged as an adult. Reception can recommend local babysitting companies.

Please note that the Devonshire Spa is adult only.

Children under the age of six are welcome to dine in our Brasserie, where you can find a children’s menu. For children between six and sixteen, a selection of simplified Burlington dishes can be served for sittings taken at 6.30pm or 7pm at a cost of £45 for three courses, including canapes and amuse-bouche.

Do you offer room service?

A selection of hot dishes are available from 12noon-2.30pm, and 6pm-9pm, please note there is a service charge of £5 per room.

How dog friendly are you?

A warm welcome awaits our guests and the four-legged kind. At our dog friendly hotels, dogs and their owners will enjoy, with equal anticipation, access to acres of off-road walks directly from the hotel, with beautiful vistas of the Dales, Fells, woods and riverside – to be explored together. Practical assistance is also on hand, for example washing areas, spare bowls, leads and waste bags, as well as thoughtfully placed bins for you to keep our beautifully maintained grounds just as you found them. Dogs are welcome in the hotel lounges where a light lunch menu is available daily. Please note that the Burlington Restaurant is not pet-friendly, however there are a limited number of dog friendly tables in the Brasserie Restaurant which must be reserved in advance. Dogs are charged at £10 per dog per night. Please give us a call on 01756 718100 for further information.

Is there a dress code the Burlington?

Whilst dining in the Burlington, we believe that everyone should be made to feel comfortable and relaxed, in order to get the most out of their experience. For that reason we do not enforce a strict dress code, we simply request that no trainers are worn during your evening meal. There are no restrictions or dress codes at breakfast time.

Do you have bike storage available?

We can offer indoor bike storage, however this must be pre-arranged with concierge or reception.

How do I arrive via helicopter?

Please call reception on 01756 718100 in advance of arriving by helicopter. Pilots are asked to keep to 500+ feet above the property until descent and then to rise to 500+ feet as soon as possible after take-off.

Please note the use of the helicopter landing area is entirely the responsibility of the pilot in command and no warranties are offered about its suitability or accuracy. Care should be taken in particular in relation to the surrounding trees and power lines etc.

Accessibility

We have one bedroom in the hotel which is accessible for wheelchair-users. It is a Classic Double Bedroom with views over the Italian box garden. For more information please contact reservations on 01756 718111. Our restaurants and facilities are ground floor, and you can find an accessible washroom near reception.

The Devonshire Spa has potential to accommodate wheelchair users if made aware in advance of arrival, depending on the disability-type. There are steps up to and into the Jacuzzi, and steps into the pool, however there are no hoists. To access the spa lounge there are steps, please also note there is a small step down onto the path to the spa.

Can you fish on the River Wharfe?

As the river flows through the Estate it is surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery in the Yorkshire Dales. Against this beautiful backdrop the 5 mile stretch of water offers extensive opportunities for both the novice and experienced angler. The keepered fishery provides fishing for wild and stocked Brown Trout and Grayling throughout its waters.

Our River Keeper, who has a wealth of knowledge of the river, is a member of the Association of Advanced Professional Game Angling Instructors and is highly qualified to teach beginners and experienced anglers the skills to get the most out of a day’s fishing at Bolton Abbey.

Arriving by Car

Bolton Abbey is located just off the A59 in between Skipton and Harrogate, easily accessible from major roads and railways. If you are using a satellite navigation system, please use the post code BD23 6AJ. We are located 10 minutes from Skipton and Ilkley, and 40 minutes from Leeds City Centre. Upon arrival at the hotel, we have a CCTV-monitored car park which is complimentary, and parking for Bolton Abbey Estate is included in your room rate.
