Best climbs in the Peak District

Experienced Climbers

Stanage Edge is probably the best place to head for gritstone climbing in the Peak District. It stretches 20 metres high across the moors of Hathersage and has over 200 routes to explore. You’ll find grooves, cracks, roofs, towers, and slabs just waiting to be discovered. Location>

Horseshoe Quarry is a site that is quick drying and sheltered — making it ideal for outdoor climbing in the Peak District. There are a number of climbing routes to choose from up to 20 meters mark. Location

Froggatt is renowned for having some of the finest sport climbing in the Peak District. The combination of quarried and natural gritstone gives a huge variety of climbs and there are remarkable routes across the grades. Other sites that have largely been devoted to sport climbing include Raven Tor, Cornice and Blackwell Halt. Location>

Beginner Climbers

Burbage South Valley is great for Peak District rock climbing beginners, a combination of flat, soft landings and not-too-high boulders are great for new recruits to outdoor climbing.
