A little about the Cavendish Pavilion

Welcome to the perfect riverside venue for refreshments and a bite to eat. In the evening, in its magical setting, the Cavendish Pavilion is transformed into a fantastic party venue. Serving everything from hot breakfasts to delicious cakes, the Pavilion is a place to relax and dig in. Plus we have an ice cream counter for the ice cream lover.

Seating is available both inside and out, with canopy sheltered tables outside for dog walkers and bikers. The counter is self-service but our friendly staff are on hand to assist you at all times. The Cavendish Pavilion is situated in the heart of the Duke of Devonshire’s 30,000-acre Bolton Abbey Estate in the Yorkshire Dales—one of the most beautiful unspoilt and unexploited parts of England. From picturesque little villages to breathtaking limestone gorges, the scenery alone is enough to keep most visitors to the area fully occupied.

After opening up the estate to visitors and, on seeing the numbers that arrived by train after the station was opened in 1880, a refreshment room was built and so the Cavendish Pavilion was opened in 1890. It very much resembles a Victorian style station building. In 2006, Cavendish Pavilion was renovated and it came under the management of Devonshire Hotels and Restaurants. In 2012 the pretty cafe was completely transformed once again, and now boasts new outside seating and a beautiful new interior.
