Built in 1912, Moor View is now a Grade II listed property, inspired by the Arts and Crafts era and designed by architect Romaine Walker. Until recently, it was the home of Lady Elizabeth, the Duke of Devonshire’s beloved aunt.

The building is situated at the top of the quaint village of Edensor, with picturesque views from the front and rear. Stone steps welcome you to the impressive front entrance, while at the back of the property you’ll find a vast garden enclosed with a pretty hedge. Enjoy views of Edensor village, Chatsworth and the breathtaking Hunting Tower beyond.

Dogs are welcomed at a rate of £25 per dog per stay, please contact the reservations team to add a dog to your booking: 01756 718111 or email res@devonshirehotels.co.uk.

Moor View Cottage in Detail

Ground floor

Entrance to large panelled reception room with fireplace and seating areas. To the right, the drawing room offers a fireplace and comfortable seating. To the left of the reception room, the hallway offers entrance to staircase, library, rear garden and dining room. The library also serves as a TV room, with comfortable finishes, corner fireplace, large bookcase and ottoman.

The dining room has a table for eight with a fireplace and large window to the front. The dining room leads to a kitchen and ground floor bedroom with shower room and separate toilet. The kitchen space is colourfully tiled, featuring a double sink with views to the front, outdoor access and a traditional Aga. The downstairs en suite bedroom features a king-size four-poster bed, desk and chair, and reading nook with armchair and light.

First floor

Staircase leads to a large landing space with a large cupboard. The first bedroom at the far side of the landing offers a twin bed with fireplace and views to both the front and rear. Adjacent to the twin room is the family bathroom, with free-standing bath and separate shower, fireplace and twin sinks.

On the other side of the family bathroom is the second bedroom, which can be set as either a large double or twin beds, corner fireplace, desk with chair and double wardrobes.

The final bedroom offers a beautiful four-poster king-sized bed, desk with chair and views to front and rear of the property. This room also offers a large private en suite with twin sinks, shower and bath.

Outside

Enclosed garden surrounding the property with handcrafted wooden bench. From the garden there are fantastic views over the village, Chatsworth itself and even the historic hunting tower can be spotted in the distance.
