Pop-up campsite on the Chatsworth Estate

Chatsworth Camping at Baslow is a new pop-up campsite on the Chatsworth Estate in Derbyshire, ideal for outdoor lovers and adventure seekers to pitch their own tent, close to all the Peak District has to offer.

Camping in Derbyshire has never been better, escape to the Chatsworth Estate and enjoy a family camping staycation this summer. The campsite is on the edge of the Chatsworth Park, a 40-minute leisurely stroll from Chatsworth House, farmyard and adventure playground, providing lots to see and do for the whole family. The wilderness of the Peak District is also within easy reach, including the 8.5 mile traffic free Monsal Trail, perfect for walking and cycling as a family.

Chatsworth Camping at Baslow provides basic portable toilets and showers, as well as a washing up area and drinking water.

The 4 acre site is adjacent to a children’s play area, with plenty of space to explore. The village of Baslow offers a range of restaurants and shops, all a short walk away. The nearby market town of Bakewell is a 15 minute drive away, where you can enjoy a stroll by the river and pick up a traditional Bakewell pudding!

Spend your days exploring everything the Chatsworth Estate and the wider Peak District has to offer, and your evenings soaking up this pleasant setting.

Location

Access and Arrival

The campsite is available from 2.00pm on your day of arrival. Arrivals before this time will not be permitted.

The site can be found behind the Baslow Sports Field, Church Lane, Baslow, DE45 1SP. Turn down the drive next to the sports field signed for Chatsworth Camping. Pass the tennis courts on your right, and the campsite can be found to your right.

Pitches are not marked, please be mindful of other guests and access routes when pitching your tent. A maximum of 4 adults ar permitted per pitch.

Caravans, motorhomes, gazebos and pup tents not permitted

Please note that this is a tent-only site. Caravans, motorhomes, gazebos and pup tents are not permitted.

Pets

Dogs are welcome at the campsite, a maximum of two dogs are included in each pitch.

Farm animals may be present in adjacent fields as well as protected species and ground nesting birds in the surrounding woodland. As such, pets should not be left unattended and should be kept on a lead at all times in the campsite. Please clean up after your dog and use the waste bin provided.

Booking Terms and Site Rules

We’d like to ensure the campsite is somewhere guests can enjoy the beautiful surroundings in a relaxing atmosphere, therefore we ask that you take note of the following guidelines.

1           Your Booking and Site Rules

Please arrive after 2.00pm on your day of arrival. Pitches are not marked, please be mindful of other guests and access routes when pitching your tent. Please note that gazebos and pup tents are not allowed on the site.

Speed limit on site is 5mph.

One car per pitch is permitted.

Maximum of 6 guests per pitch.

You must vacate the site by 10.00am on your day of departure.

You will receive the details and directions to the campsite on your confirmation email. In case of emergency during your stay, a 24 hours a day contact number will be provided.

Quiet hours are between 10pm and 7am. Music players/radios must be kept to a reasonable volume at all times and must be switched off by 10pm. Please respect your fellow guests by keeping noise levels to a minimum after this time.

Caravans and motorhomes are not permitted on the campsite.

The campsite is situated in a semi-rural location, bordered by natural woodland and appropriate care should be taken. We ask visitors to respect our site rules and make themselves aware of the surroundings during daylight hours. Please do not climb any fences or walls, campsite guests are not permitted in any other field or woodland area. Access to the river is not permitted, including fishing. Poachers will be prosecuted.

2          COVID-19

In confirming this reservation you acknowledge that the measures implemented by Devonshire Hotels & Restaurants Group to mitigate the transmission of COVID-19 place personal responsibility on you for adhering to the requirements including, but not limited to, those relating to social distancing, personal hygiene, the wearing of face coverings, NHS track and trace requirements, testing and reporting health issues in accordance with government guidelines.

You also agree that you are adhering to any lockdown rules which apply at the time of your visit. You accept that these provisions are required to protect the health and wellbeing of you, your family, fellow guests and team members at Chatsworth Camping. You understand that failure to comply with any of these requirements is a serious matter and may result in you being requested to the campsite. Should government rules, or any other extreme circumstance, require, you may be required to leave the site immediately, for example in the case of a lockdown.

3           Payment and cancellation

Full payment is required at the time of booking. Should you wish to cancel, payments are refundable up to six weeks prior to your booking. Site rules are for the benefit of everyone. If you do not abide by them, you may be asked to leave, and no refunds will be given.

We cannot give refunds or move bookings because of poor weather. We are not liable for refunds or expenses you incur in the event we are prevented from fulfilling your booking as a result of circumstances beyond our control. Including (but not be limited to) war, terrorism, riots or civil unrest, industrial action, flooding, natural disaster, epidemics, health risks or such similar events (“Force Majeure”). We recommend that you have adequate holiday insurance in place to cover this.

4           Value Added Tax

VAT is included in the quoted price for your holiday at the rate applicable at the time of printing.  Our confirmation of booking is not a VAT invoice.

5           Loss or damage

We accept no responsibility for any loss or damage that may occur to your car or property whilst on site.

6           Large parties

We accept bookings from the following; families, couples, groups aged 18 and over (by prior arrangement). We do not accept bookings from stag/hen parties or unaccompanied under 18s.

7           Cleanliness

Please use the recycling and general waste bins provided, leaving the site as you have found it. A metal bin for hot ash is provided, do not use the general waste bins for BBQ/firepit ash.

8          Children

Parents are responsible for their children on site and they should always be supervised.

9           Pets

Please only light your BBQ a safe distance away from your tent, to avoid fumes from entering your tent and to reduce the risk of fire spreading. It is strictly forbidden to collect and burn any timber from the site or surrounding woodland. Please bring your own fuel or firewood to burn. Bricks are provided to keep BBQ’s and fire pits off the grass.

A metal bin is provided for the disposal of BBQ/Fire pit ash and charcoal, please do not dispose of hot waste in the regular waste bins.

In the case of emergency, please use the fire extinguisher provided and call 999.

11        Complaints/feedback

If you are having a problem with any of the facilities or have feedback about the standard of the site, please give us the opportunity to fix things during your stay by contacting us on 01756 718111 at the time the problem occurs. We will do our utmost to resolve any problems during your stay.

12         Parking and access

Please do not block any entrance routes or gateways with your car. All vehicles must be parked on the campsite itself, not approaching roads, please take care in wet weather if the ground is muddy.

13        Fireworks are NOT ALLOWED at the campsite to avoid upsetting local livestock.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

The site provides basic portable toilet and shower facilities, a drinking water tap and washing up area. You will need to bring all other equipment. Please remember that the great British summer can be unpredictable, so please pack for all eventualities. Warm clothing and bedding are recommended as evenings can be chilly, as well as wellies/boots as the site can be muddy during wet weather. The site is unlit at night, so remember to pack a torch.

You are welcome to bring your own deckchairs and picnic furniture. Please note that gazebos and pup tents are not permitted.

The campsite is located off Church Lane on the edge of Baslow Village, adjacent to a children’s playground. The village shop is a 10 minute walk away, where you can purchase all essential items. The campsite is also a 40 minute level walk away from Chatsworth House, which can be accessed via a footpath from Baslow Village (Nether End Car Park).
